How ASTÆRA was born

the story

A name that means star. A feeling that never dims.
ASTÆRA began with no plan, no pressure - just a quiet act of self-love.
What started as one-of-one dresses made just for myself - in my mother’s studio, with fabrics from her collections - became something I never expected: a resonant spark. I made pieces that made me feel seen, confident, powerful, feminine. Pieces that didn’t follow trends, but followed a feeling. A story. A need to shine again.The first dresses sold immediately. And whenever I wore one, people noticed. They asked. They remembered. And just like that, what started as a quiet act of self-expression became something more.These dresses made me feel special again - at a time I really needed to. They reminded me that we all carry a kind of inner brilliance, even when it feels distant. Each piece I design carries that energy: bold but soft, edgy but elegant, unique yet inviting.The word ASTÆRA comes from the Greek for “star.” It’s also a tribute to my name, Tara - which means star as well. My parents wrote "a star is born" on my birth announcement not knowing that one day I would create a movement and brand to share that feeling with others. I didn’t want to name the brand just after myself but rather it to carry the essence. To feel like something radiant is emerging. To be a star, truly - from within. I wanted it to stand on its own. To be a universe on its own, not a reflection. ASTÆRA is that universe - one of radiance, resilience, and reinvention.This isn’t about being loud. It’s about transformation, softness, self-expression, and power. It’s about a woman owning her light, without having to force it.Every ASTÆRA piece is designed and made in Hamburg - from reclaimed or recycled fabrics, in small batches, and with intention. No waste. No mass production. Just story-driven, future-minded fashion that speaks from the soul.Welcome to ASTÆRA.

At ASTÆRA, every dress is made with care, intention, and respect for the planet and the people behind it.♻️ Reclaimed & Regenerated Materials
Most ASTÆRA dresses are made from ECONYL®, a regenerated nylon crafted from ocean waste - including fishing nets and industrial plastic. This high-quality fabric is sourced from my mother’s studio, where she uses it for her own collections. I also incorporate leftover fabrics from her past productions - beautiful materials that would otherwise go unused. This way, every piece is born from something already existing, with a story that continues.🧵 Local, Fair Production
All pieces are handmade in Hamburg, Germany. Produced by women, for women, and always under fair, safe working conditions. By keeping our production local, we eliminate the risks of exploitation - including child labor - and minimize transportation-related emissions.✂️ Made on Demand, Made with Purpose
ASTÆRA dresses are created in very small batches or on demand, using only what’s already available. This intentional process keeps waste near zero and ensures that every dress feels as exclusive as it is ethical. We don’t overproduce, we create slowly, consciously, and with soul.Why it matters
